A Fair Chance to Advance: Restoring Our Communities

October 3, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Ella Baker Center for Human Rights, Urban Peace Movement, East Oakland Building Healthy Communities, Bay Area Black Workers Center, Community Health for Asian Americans, Oakland Community Organizations, and Assemblymember Rob Bonta will be co-sponsoring a Prop 47/ Immigration Event in East Oakland. There will be legal consultation involving felony relief, immigration issues, as well Consulate services from Mexico and El Salvador.

A variety of services will be available such as DMV lawyers to inform the community about the new unpaid tickets amnesty program, employment opportunities from the Alameda County EMS CORPS program, resume-building assistance, and Medi-Cal and EBT information.

In addition, there will be a play area for the children with arts and crafts available, and a community-building exercise sharing information about measure FF (the minimum wage increase that passed last year in Oakland). Lunch will be provided.

It is an opportunity to connect with other community members and learn about some of the work coalition members have been doing locally in Alameda County. Bring the family out- it is a free event. If you wish to volunteer, please feel free to contact John Jones at 510-250-7298.
